Instructional System

The Instructional methodology used in this University is different from that of the conventional Universities. The Open University system is more learner-oriented, and is geared to cater to the needs of motivated students assuming that the student is an active participant in the teaching-learning process. Instruction to student is imparted through various modes such as Print, Audio, Video and supported by face to face contact programme. The University follows multi-channel approach for instruction. It comprises proportionate combination of :

Study Materials

University will supply Study Materials for the students in the pattern of Self Learning Materials (SLMs). The Study Materials will be in English and Kannada medium. Each course is divided into 6 Blocks. Further, Blocks are subdivided into 2 to 6 Units. The students will receive 35 Blocks for the entire programme.







Credit System – General :

  • Alt Text BLISc is a Credit Based Programme
  • Alt Text A weightage of Forty-eight credits are given for Eight Courses.
  • Alt Text The University follows the 'Credit system' for its BLISc programme.
  • Alt Text Each Credit is of 30 hours of study comprising of all learning activities
Thus, a three credit course involves 90 study hours, a six credit course involves 180 study hours and so on. This helps the students to understand the academic efforts she/ he has to put in order to successfully complete the programme.


Personal Contact Programme (PCP)

  • Alt Text University conducts Personal Contact Programmes at various Centres
  • Alt Text Students should attend the PCP at the centre to which they are directed to attend
  • Alt Text Students can have more information on PCP form the Coordinator, Library and Information Science Department of the University.
  • Alt Text During the Personal Contact Programme, Lectures will be delivered by the reputed Academicians working in various Universities and Libraries.
Participation in the Contact programme is COMPULSORY. Students who do not attend PCP, will not be allowed to register for the Final Examination.
